Mission Community Initiatives is a 501(c)(3) organization. EIN: 84-3390849
Our mission is to support people to reclaim dignity, self-worth, and respect by providing humanitarian relief and resources to disproportionately impacted communities.
We stand by our community's side to help them navigate organizations, build dignity, and use their voice to shape a new, more equitable society. Our programs in San Diego and its surrounding areas build leaders who transform our local community and are actively engaged in our local economy and civic life. Together, we will create a community that is for all.
Mission Community Initiatives envisions a thriving community united around shared values, where every guest flourishes. We provide essential human resources and advocacy to community members in need.
Our goals are:
To provide facilities, resources, and connections for community members/participants through organized outreach events.
To provide opportunities for volunteers to engage in educational, professional, and advocacy-based efforts.
To sponsor, host, and participate in events and activities that publicize disproportionately impacted communities' advocacy efforts.
To provide humanitarian relief and resources, which include but are not limited to: education, recovery support, showers, haircuts, hygiene, food, and clothing.
Meet The Team
Jordan Verdin has been a photographer for the past ten (10) years, working internationally. He has worked with NGO's who provide clean water to communities in different countries in Africa, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and education and housing to human trafficking survivors in Nepal. After he obtained his degree in Negotiation, Conflict Resolution, and Peace Building from CSU Dominguez Hills, he decided to intersect his passion for photography and storytelling as a way to dismantle stereotypes and stigmas and humanize people's stories. For years, he has worked closely with the homeless community, building friendships that have allowed him to capture their portraits and stories. Jordan serves on the board of Mission Community Initiatives as the president.
